The Science of Reading: How to Support Developing Readers in the Upper Grades
The acquisition of foundational literacy skills should not be the focus for only early elementary students. Teachers in the upper middle and secondary grades often require training and guidance to effectively and equitably support their students in developing these skills. Participants in this session will do a deeper dive into the science of reading, the research and data behind why students in upper grades often struggle to read, and how ANet works alongside our partners in grades 4-12 to support upper grades students to become proficient readers of complex, grade-level texts.
